🌼 What the Ceremony Involves:

  • Devotional Welcoming (Pūrṇa Kumbha or Kalasha): The Bhagavatam is welcomed with a kalasha, auspicious music (like kīrtan or Vedic chants), flowers, and conch blowing, similar to welcoming a highly revered guest.
  • Pāda Puja and Garland Offering: The book is placed on a clean, decorated altar or chowki, offered garlands and incense, and worshipped as non-different from Lord Krishna.
  • Satsang and Reading: The first reading begins from the invocation verses or the first śloka of the Bhagavatam, often accompanied by kīrtan and discussions which will be done our senior monks who will be visiting your place on the day of the booking.
  • Bhoga & Aarti: The visiting monk performs aarti (offering of lamp) to the Bhagavatam, offer fruits or sweets (bhoga), and performs kirtan
  • Distribution of Prasadam: Guests and family members receive prasadam as a part of the auspicious celebration.

🪔 What You Need to Arrange:

  • A new copy of Srimad Bhagavatam (as mentioned before)
  • Clean altar space or a small raised platform
  • Kalasha with water, mango leaves, coconut
  • Flowers (good amount), incense, ghee lamp, camphor
  • Tulasi leaves, sandalwood paste
  • Fruits or sweets for offering
  • Garland for the Bhagavatam
  • Aarti thali and bell
  • Invite neighbours or family members for kīrtan and participation (minimum 15 people)

This ceremony is most potent when performed with bhakti and simplicity. It marks the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the Bhagavatam as your spiritual guide, giving shelter, clarity, and transcendental joy.
